Conference and Trade Show Ideas That Get People to Stop and Stay

Every conference has the same problem. Hundreds of people walk the same aisles, past booth after booth, with a bag full of brochures they will never read. The booths people remember are the ones that gave them something to do.
If you are planning a conference, trade show, sponsor zone or company booth in North Carolina, here are ideas that get people to stop, stay and talk.
Give people a reason to stop
A booth with a table and a banner asks people to start a conversation cold. Most will not. A simple, visible activity does the work for you.
The best booth activities share a few things:
• They are quick. People can take part in a minute or two between sessions.
• They are easy to understand from a distance. If guests can see what is happening, they walk over.
• They are fun to watch. A small crowd draws a bigger crowd.
Golf checks all three. A guest takes a swing, the screen shows the shot and everyone nearby reacts. It is an easy invitation: "Want to take a swing?"
Idea 1: Run a Closest to the Pin challenge
Closest to the Pin is one swing at one target. It is fast, fair to beginners and easy to track. Post a leaderboard and update it through the day, and guests will come back to check their spot.
On the Mobile Mulligans Golf Truck, TrackMan technology measures every shot and 4K visuals show the result. No golf experience needed: our on-site staff helps guests choose a club and walks first-timers through the swing.
Idea 2: Make your brand part of the experience
The activity should feel like yours. Approved sponsor or company content can appear on the displays when requested, and the leaderboard can carry your name or campaign.
That keeps the focus on your brand while guests are having fun, and it gives your team a natural moment to talk. Learn more on our brand activations and grand openings page.
Idea 3: Let your staff focus on conversations
Booth teams are stretched thin. If they are running an activity, they are not talking to prospects. With the Golf Truck, our crew handles setup, gameplay and pack-down, and a staff member stays on site throughout to manage the line and run the games.
Your team can do what they came to do: meet people, qualify leads and start conversations while guests wait for their turn.
Idea 4: Anchor the evening social
Many conferences include a reception or after-hours social. A shared activity gives attendees from different companies an easy way to meet. Guests can rotate through the bay, cheer each other on from the lounge seating and keep talking long after their swing.

Practical notes for conference planners
• Space: the truck needs roughly 36 feet of length, 16 feet of width and 15 feet of overhead clearance on a relatively level surface.
• Indoor or outdoor: outdoor setups are self-contained with no external power hookup. Indoor setups need suitable access, clearance and shore power from the venue, which we review before confirming. The truck is about 12 feet tall in transit, so loading routes matter.
• Setup window: our crew arrives 60 to 90 minutes before the start, or earlier when arranged.
• Guest flow: tell us your expected attendance and hours so we can suggest the right format.
Questions to ask before you commit
• Where will the truck sit relative to foot traffic?
• Will there be a featured challenge or prize?
• What branded content, if any, should appear on the displays?
• Who is the on-site contact for arrival and setup?

Make your booth the one people remember
The best conference activities are simple, social and easy to join. Give guests a swing, a score to beat and a reason to come back, and the conversations follow.
