Men react with excitement to a shot at the golf simulator at night.

Winter can be a quiet stretch for taprooms and sports bars. Patios empty out, people stay home and weeknights slow down. The venues that stay busy give guests a reason to make a night of it.

If you run or market a brewery, taproom or sports bar in Raleigh, Durham or the Triangle, here are winter event ideas that bring people in and keep them around.

Give guests a reason to leave the couch

On a cold night, "come have a beer" competes with a warm couch and a streaming queue. "Come play" is a stronger invitation. Events with something to do, something to win or something to watch give guests a story and a reason to bring friends.

Idea 1: A Closest to the Pin night

A simple golf challenge is easy to promote and easy to join. Guests take a swing, check the leaderboard and come back later to try to beat the top score.

The Mobile Mulligans Golf Truck parks at your venue and transforms into a covered golf bay with lounge seating, TrackMan technology, 4K visuals and Sonos sound. Our caddy manages gameplay and helps guests choose clubs. No golf experience needed: quick-turn games welcome regulars and people taking their first swing.

Your team runs the venue. Our team runs the golf.

Idea 2: Watch party plus a swing

Big games and tournaments already bring people out. Add a reason to arrive early and stay late. A golf challenge during pregame, halftime or between matches keeps the energy up and gives guests something to do while they wait.

Winter and early spring bring plenty of reasons to gather, and a golf watch party is a natural fit when the big tournaments roll around.

The format is flexible. Some venues run open play all night, while others save a featured challenge for halftime or the final round. Either way, guests have a reason to stay for one more round, and your bartenders have a room full of people who are having fun together.

Idea 3: A release or anniversary celebration

Launching a seasonal beer or celebrating a taproom anniversary? Add a featured challenge to the night. A themed leaderboard or a playful prize tied to the release gives guests something to talk about and share.

Idea 4: Make it a standing night

One great event can become a regular one. A recurring golf night, monthly or seasonal, gives guests something to look forward to and gives your marketing a steady hook. We can rotate challenges to keep it fresh, on dates and a format that fit your venue's calendar.

Keeping guests warm

The Golf Truck's hitting bay has heat, and a standing heater supports winter lounge setups, so guests stay comfortable between turns. Severe weather may require play to pause or the event to be rescheduled for safety, so build a simple rain-date plan into your promotion.

What the venue provides (and what we handle)

A brewery or bar golf night works best with a clear split of roles:

• We handle: setup, guest guidance, gameplay and pack-down, plus coordination on arrival, hours and guest flow.

• You provide: suitable truck space, a venue contact and your plan for promoting the event.

For space, plan for roughly 36 feet of length, 16 feet of width and 15 feet of overhead clearance on a relatively level surface. Outdoor setups are self-contained, with no external power hookup needed. Our crew arrives 60 to 90 minutes before start time. More details are on our Golf Truck event FAQ.

Promotion tips that help

• Announce the event at least two to three weeks ahead on your social channels and in the taproom.

• Post the leaderboard prize, even if it is something small and fun.

• Share photos and clips during the night to pull in late arrivals.

• If it goes well, announce the next date before guests leave.

Fill the taproom this winter

A winter event calendar with something to play gives regulars a reason to come back and new guests a reason to try your place. A golf night is easy to understand, fun to watch and built for groups.

Check your date and request a quote, and our team will follow up to talk through the format.
